Missouri brought us a nice big Winter snow the day after Christmas here at Fox Run! But, our fun never ends thank to our wonderful heated, indoor arena. Here are a few photos of our students enjoying the indoor, as well as our lesson horses having a bit of fun in the snow!

Our Fox Run school horses may now be leased out on a monthly and/or long term basis. We offer both full and half leases for our students to secure some special time with their favorite school horse! This lease fee includes use of the horse, facility, and necessary equipment. The lease program is set up for students to be able to practice what they are learning in their lessons and to have priority use of their leased horse for their lessons and shows! It also allows access to the pony/horse outside of lesson for everyday practice including weekends. For more information about our lease program please talk to Tricia or Cassie. This is a wonderful way for our students to get the horse-owning experience first hand without the full commitment of actually owning a horse!

Things never slow down at Fox Run Stables! Currently, Fox Run is the home of the Fox Run Equestrian Team as well as the Southeast Missouri State Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Equestrian Team, but we are now adding to our show team family. Fox Run welcomes the first Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) team to our barn and the area. This is open to children of the ages from 11-19, and owning a horse is not necessary! Very similar to the IHSA, team members learn to ride on many horses and compete across the region on horses drawn at random. The IEA is currently celebrating its 10th Anniversary and has many active riders and opportunities to show.

SuAnne Remley, master instructor and coach to the Southeast Missouri State University's Equestrian Team, will also be the coach for Fox Run's IEA team. Members will have the opportunity to practice once a week, either on Tuesday at 6:30pm or Thursday at 5:30pm. Lesson fees will be 30$ per lesson. An additional 100$ will be needed to cover IEA dues as well as insurance.

The first meeting for any interested members will be Septmeber the 6th at 5:45pm. We look forward to expanding our Fox Run family and our show records!

More information regarding the IEA can be found on their website at http://www.rideiea.org/

Fox Run never ceases to impress! This year we had three ponies qualify for the 2012 Pony Finals! Blue James Blue, Blue Grace, and Baby Be Good packed up for a two week journey (Along with their two legged friends/grooms/coaches/pony slaves) to the gorgeous city of Lexington, Kentucky. Gracie excelled in the modeling and flat class, while James caught the eyes of many in the Large Green Hunter over Fences! James finished 34th out of over 70 horses, a huge honor and accomplishment for the Fox Run team. All three of these ponies are for sale, you can view videos and photos on our website under the Horses for Sale tab. Congratulations to Andrew LaFoe, Tricia LaFoe, SuAnne Remley, and Cassie Zimmerman for their many successes with these wonderful ponies!

Fox Run Stables hosted a summer camp from June 4th-8th with rave reviews from our attendees! Our group of fifteen campers enjoyed riding, unmounted lessons, crafts, swimming activities, pony bubble baths, and much more during this week of fun. From total beginners to those who have been enjoying lessons at Fox Run for a while now, we customized learning plans to help each student succeed. Our camp came to a close with an exhibition of the students abilities and a costumed pony parade for parents and grand parents to enjoy! Tricia LaFoe put together a fabulous curriculum for students to enjoy and gain the most from. With help from Fox Run's more experienced students and CHA certified instructors, our little girls left with big smiles. And of course, who can forget our fabulous lesson ponies and horses who worked very hard all week as well!

Fox Run Equestrian team traveled to St. Josephs, Illinois on May the 12th to compete in Cornerstone Farms Charity Series horse show. We took a total of 10 horses and 13 riders to this event where our team represented Fox Run in a great way! We came home with many blues, a few division champions, and 2 of our riders placed in the Hunter Derby. We all had a blast with our ponies and fellow horse-crazy friends. A special thanks to Tricia LaFoe, SuAnne Remley, and Cassie Zimmerman for making our showing at Cornerstone possible! We had a wonderful time, everyone at Cornerstone was super friendly and the arena was gorgeous. A listing of each riders placing's will be updated soon!

Tricia LaFoe invited guests to welcome the Kentucky Derby in style at her home on Saturday, May 5th. Nearly 200 individuals attended a benefit party for the Big Brothers, Big Sisters organization at the LaFoe's household. They were welcomed in style with a photo-op with Fox Run's very own celebrity, Bottom Line- better known to us as Leo (Owner Eliza Holcomb). A former race horse, Leo donned a wreath of roses and posed with guests for their very own winning circle photo. Bets were placed on the real contenders of the years derby and supports of I'll Have Another were pleased to see their bets payed off when he pulled through in the final stretch of the race. Guests were served a delectable meal and entertained with live music after the race. It was a fabulous evening that raised money for a wonderful organization and showed the public that former racehorses can enjoy a succesful career after they retire from the track!

Pictured here is Will Lafoe, son of owner Tricia LaFoe, serving as caretaker for the star of the evening, Bottom Line AKA Leo.
